The week we've all been waiting for has arrived! It really has been great to see so many smiling faces at the club over the past few days.

Can you believe it's Masters week (again!) in just a few days? It wasn't too long ago that we sat in awe as Dustin Johnson's remarkable game tamed the unforgiving Augusta National. Who do you think will come out on top next week? Reply to this email with your favourite!

Golf is back!

Its been amazing to see so many familair faces the past three days and the excitement from everyone at the club as we finally get to play the game we all love again.

You will have seen the Knockout draws are being released to sign ups on Saturday, please remember there are limited numbers for sign up so its essential you get your entries in early and pay in the proshop to guarantee your place.

- Vachell Bowl (Men’s Foursomes)
- Mackay Cup (Men’s 4BBB)
- Jubilee Bowl (Mixed pairs)
- Lammin Foursomes (Ladies pairs)
- Ibbetson Cup (Ladies singles)
- Challenge Bowl (Ladies singles)

The closing date for entries is Friday, 23rd April and the knockout competitions will start on 1st May 2021. Entry is £2 per player (£4 per pair).

The knockout competitions for the over 60’s have been advised to those qualifying members separately.

The table will be across the door in the proshop until the 12th April, we will place the sign up sheets on the table and will be taking entries via cash or card.

Winter rules extension

News in this week that Winter Rules have been extended by Kent Golf Union throughout April, we have signs dotted around the club, however, please ensure you tell your playing partners on the first tee...unless there's money on the line then maybe wait until the 18th.

Time for an MOT?

As most of you are aware, we are able to teach outside at the moment, theres no better time to have an MOT with Greg, Bruce or Charlie to help bump your game in the right direction.

A particular area we are focusing on is the shortgame, over the past months we have been do lots of traing and one of the courses enrolled upon is "The Wedgematrix". It specialises from 50 yards in and James Ridyard the founder coaches tour players including Francesco Molinari.

Junior Coaching

Back by popular demand the Saturday Junior sessions begin this Saturday 3rd April. It's important you sign up before the sessions, we're really excited to see the guys again. Greg has been working hard putting together his lesson plans. We have introduced an admin Junior Event Whatsapp group, this allows only the admins to write but will be an essential way of staying up to date with news on events and coaching at the club. Please let us know if you wish to be added.

Golf on Tour

European golf fans, cover your eyes! The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play was not pretty viewing for Padraig Harrington & Co. as the States dominated, with Billy Horschel defeating Scottie Scheffler in a scrappy final. Who can blame them considering it was their 7th match in just four days!

The Major Championship season kicks off this week as the world’s best lady golfers head to California for the ANA Inspiration. Last year’s tournament saw Mirim Lee shock everyone with a comeback win including two chip-ins, an 18th-hole eagle and a three-way playoff! A host of the game’s stars, including the Korda sisters (Nelly & Jess), Lexi Thompson and Danielle Kang have all been in fine form this year. It’s destined to be a cracker!

Hopefully, it won't be long before you're teeing up in major club competitions once again so why not book yourself in for a lesson or two to sharpen up your game?

Staying grounded this season

You quite literally want to stay grounded as you play golf this year. I’m not expecting you to float away like a balloon, but without the right footwear there is a chance that your ball will.
